Cribbage Game Board Item Number: 1449/2 a-b from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

A game board (part a) with a peg (part b) to help it stand level. The back of the board is carved with a picture of a black seal on an ice float chased by a polar bear. The front of the board is carved with two dark walruses and one black seal on an ice float.

Narrative

The original owner, Bishop Geddes, served in the arctic from 1920 to 1947. The gavel and game board are assumeed to have been made in either the Yukon or Mackenzie River delta area during that time.
