Description

Figure depicting the Ib, or the heart, in dark grey stone. The figure has a protrusion at the top with three grooves running parallel from front to back and the remainder of the figure has the shape of a vase with a rounded base and a handle-like protrusion on each side.

History Of Use

It replaced the human heart which was removed from the mummy, and insured its endurance. Neith protected the heart until its resurrection according to the inscriptions found upon some of the larger hearts. (The heart was also called ab or hati.)
