Basketry Side Table Item Number: A7253 from the MOA: University of British Columbia
Description
Coiled basketry table constructed from cedar splints and unidentified wood foundation. Coiled cedar root elements and watch-spring construction of table top. Rim of table is finished with loopwork. Imbricated triangular designs on table top in red and black cherry bark with cat-tail. Legs are nailed on to table top. An overcast ring has been attached to the legs as a support structure. This ring or support has broken.
Iconographic Meaning
This table is decorated with half-diamond designs. Minnie Peters notes that this design means good luck.
