Description

Ornament formed from braided strands of grass, each with several blue and green iridescent feathers bound to it at intervals with multicoloured threads. The base is bound with green cloth as well as off-white thread and string, and has a beaded floral design in brown, blue-grey, green and gold plastic and glass beads.

History Of Use

Used as a women's dance ornament.

Cultural Context

The feathers are from a Himalayan bird called "loeish" which is sacred to the Kalash, and a mark of prestige.
