Dish Item Number: Aa124 from the MOA: University of British Columbia
A small turtle shell. Rounded oval shape that has a slight point at one end and two parting tail-flute-like features, creating a part in between them. Thirteen geometric shape blocks overall.
Shells were used for decoration, as basins for feeding dogs, and as bowls for scooping grain from storage. In some traditions, shells of juvenile tortoises were used to make rattles used in specific puberty ceremonies.
