Description
Stoneware salt-glaze vase that had collapsed in on itself during firing. Inscription on side of vase; incised mark on bottom, "Martin Bros. London".
Narrative
An inscription on the body of the vase reads: "And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter - Jeremiah." (King James bible - Jeremiah 18:4.)
