Description

Athenian black figure drinking cup, or kylix, made of red clay with black paint. The bowl is shallow and sits on a cylindrical base that widens to a flat, disc shaped foot. The two handled pedestal cup is decorated with two human figures and two animal figures fighting. The bottom and inner bowl have circular detailing.

History Of Use

Typical of cups used for drinking wine (mixed with water) in symposia, male social gatherings marked by drinking, talk and other activities.
