Adze Core, Stone Item Number: 2579 from the The Burke: University of Washington
One nephrite adze core. L. St. Kitts 5/14/2009 Led: Section of bright green jade, 6 miles above Lytton, B.C. Fide donor GTE: Large flat section of bright green jade showing two cutting grooves and a broken side the length of one of the narrower faces. Found on an old living site at the mouth of Stein Creek, emptying into the Fraser River about six miles above Lytton. Green nephrite or jade oblong cobble; flat with rought major surfaces. All peripheral surfaces are smoothed (three are assumed to be smoothed by natural processes; the fourth has two saw marks running the length of the object, with a strip of rought surface in between).
