Description

White garment with striped pattern. The garment has a rectangular shape with a round neck and no sleeves. The neck is edged with red and purple ribbons which hang down. The pattern consists of red and white horizontal stripes with a pattern woven into the centre of the red stripes. The front and back are divided into three vertical panels by red ribbon. The upper centre panel has a dense geometric motif in red, pink, orange, yellow and green. The bottom edge is unhemmed. The inside is unlined.

History Of Use

Tunica or huipil; Trique (or Triqui) woman’s blouse for daily wear. The ribbons are worn at the back; the patterns are woven into the fabric. Possibly from San Juan Copala?
