Laxsgiik Eagle and Crests Item Number: Nb7.343 a-b from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Two large carved door-like panels that peg together to form one low-relief framed image. Eagle dominates the centre of the panel, with its wings spread and head turned to the side, encircled by Salmon (top right), Sea Wolf (bottom) and Frog (top left).

Narrative

Commissioned from Sterritt, by the donor. Exhibited at the Vancouver Centennial Museum in 1977. Sterritt is also one of the carvers who produced the wooden front door panels which used to be on the front doors of MOA, and are now located inside at the entrance to the MOA shop.
