Description

Red, square shaped shawl with multi-coloured vertical stripes and fringe on one end with an orange and blue embroidered zig-zag design above it. Two pieces of the same fabric are joined along their selvage edges by an orange and blue embroidered zig-zag design. The stripes are blue, black, pink, orange, yellow and white on a red ground.

Narrative

Don Jose Garcia Martin and his wife Francisca Diaz Godinez organized the production of the clothing from San Juan Atitan in this collection (accession 2551). They apportioned the work among family members and others known for their skills in the community.
