EXCHANGED LEIDEN MUSEUM, MAY 1899."The artifact currently numbered E20587 may be the wrong number?Ian Reid (Heiltsuk) and Clyde Tallio (Nuxalk) of the delegation from Bella Bella, Bella Coola and Rivers Inlet communities of British Columbia made the following comments during the Recovering Voices Community Research Visit May 20th - 24th, 2013. In Bella Coola, bird rattles are always used by chiefs. It is probably red ochre, there are still a few places on the coast with red ochre. It is possible this is carved out of alder.
