Tsimshian celebrants danced in cedar-bark rings, imitating the dress and actions of beings who were described in the origin story of each secret society. Bark rings were hung outside on the houses where ceremonies were in progress, to warn away the uninitiated. This ring consists of several crossed layers of twisted bark cord wrapped around wool; the sash is made of twisted bark cords, each ending in a knot and tassel.
