Tapa Cloth Item Number: 2623/53 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

The cloth is natural in colour with designs painted in black and brown. There are eight bands and each band is separated by a border. The designs in seven of the bands are interlocking triangles on either a black, brown or natural background. One band has mirror-image rectangles missing one side. The cloth has a thick fringe cut into one side and two long ties on the opposite side. The cloth is painted on one side but the paint has bled through to the backside.

Accompanying label reads "BO (tapa) for dancing, not for wearing".
