Unmodified Shell Item Number: EXU12C0011100 from the The Burke: University of Washington
This shell was loaned to Phoebe Anderson from 12/8/2005 until 8/11/2009 for faunal analysis. Samples were taken from the 1st, 4th, 8th, and 12th buckets to perform taxonomic and size analyses. Additionally, five shells per level, preferably Protothaca staminea (common littleneck clam), underwent destructive sampling in order to analyze seasonality of occupation and to reconstruct the past environment of the Pacific Northwest. Anderson's analysis is described fully in her dissertation, A Gendered Model of Prehistoric Resource Depression: A Case Study on the Northwest Coast (2009), and full analysis sheets are attached to this record. AKT 10/20/09 Two P. Staminea (labeled A and B) were selected from this level and prepared for Isotope analysis by Phoebe Anderson (2009), but the samples were not submitted. The slide-mounted thick sections and shell remainders have been tagged as isotope samples and returned to their proper level bag in the collection. K. Lutz 1/11/2010
