Description

Short shirt or jacket of pink rayon damask , with an overall pattern of small lozenges enclosing circles, with ties of the same fabric. Short blue ties on the inside of blue fabric. Lined with white ramie. Roughly-written label in black ink written phonetically and in Korean characters at lower edge of lining.

History Of Use

Jeogori made of rayon damask “yang-dan”, date from the 1950s, and are similar to those worn now. Those with a curved front edge are earlier. Such patterned fabrics were generally worn by older women.

Specific Techniques

Partly sewn by hand, and partly by machine. The sewing is not well done. Front outside facing is only pasted in place, not sewn.
