Description

Three pieces of painted cotton that used to be attached to a wooden bird mask (part a). Parts b and c have green and brown feather-like designs painted on them; part d is painted with green and blue shapes.

Narrative

Was last used at Fort Rupert in 1922, it was painted at that time (C. George, 1966). See Boas, 1895, pg. 374.

Iconographic Meaning

Represents Undersea Chief, Komokwa: Q!umugwe', diver on head.
