Small, irregularly shaped pieces of black charcoal.

History Of Use

Used mostly by Spirit Dancers - crushed and mixed with either face cream or oil before application. It was at one time also used by certain types of Sxwy-xwy dancers, but this has not been observed for some time.

Specific Techniques

Such charcoal was made by collecting and drying either stinging nettles or devil's club and then burning it and letting the coals drop into a container.
