Mask Item Number: 2655/90 a-b from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Overall brown coloured cat-like mask with protruding horns(?) and defined brow ridge with small pebble-sized attachments on the rim of the ridge. On the top of the snout and on either side of it are animal hair attachments. The mouth is in the shape of a triangle with teeth carved in relief and a large tongue in the centre. Carved grooves extend from the top of the head down to the bottom of the chin and under the chin there are three similar sized holes. Part b is a detached stone skull-like addition that would sit on top of the head. It has large circular holes for eyes, two small slits for nostrils and a row of oversized teeth.
