Figure Item Number: 1259/7 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Metal sculpture of a standing wildcat-like animal, with areas of red pigment on the surface. A Long, thin tail is angled straight over the animal's back, resting on its head and supported in the middle by a small vertical piece arising from the centre of the back. The head has two protruding ears, a long nose, eyes and jagged fangs. Circular imprints cover the surface of the object.

Specific Techniques

XRF analysis suggests the piece is made of brass, with a high bismuth content typical of the 19th century.
