Description

The end of the handle is a reddish wood, rounded and carved with one side pointed up and one pointed down. The rest of the handle is made of silver bands wrapped with a thin fibre and coloured black. The base of the blade flares out and is decorated with barbs. The blade has two parallel lines running its length and an old yellowed coat of varnish.

Narrative

Collected by Colonel A.C. Fisher, the great grandfather of the donors, while he was in China from 1856 to 1859.
