Bowl Item Number: 2663/14 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Bowl or cup known as shing pur (ཤིང་ཕོར་) of red-brown burl-like wood with a smooth unfinished surface. The bowl has a flared rim and a small foot with concentric circles on its bottom surface.
This is an ordinary cup/bowl for tea and soup used by ordinary people, not by monks or high officials. When Tibetans travel, they often carry a cup like this and ask people along the way if they can offer some tea or food.
