Description

Harpoon head carved out of antler, with animal heads (possibly lightning serpents) on the two angled and flared ends opposite the point. It is bound together with braided skin to a long curved piece, with string coiled around the middle, and coiled around near the looped end.

History Of Use

Harpoon point set for seals, sea otters, and sea lions.

Iconographic Meaning

Lightning snakes represent the harpoon of the Thunderbird.
