Description

Big dark red painted and burned face. Four-petaled black flower design on forehead and at sides of head. Upraised brow above horizontal slit cut out eyes and long thin rectangular nose. Oval cheek indent outlines. Slightly carved horizontal mouth. Grey ribbon for hanging at back.

History Of Use

May have been used during marriage ceremonies.

Narrative

Was part of an exhibit at the UBC Art Gallery in 1973. Card says: "La novia: mascara usada el primer dia de la boda." Translation: "The bride: mask used at first day of wedding ceremony."
