Amulet Box Item Number: 2663/55 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Amulet box known as srung khor (སྲུང་འཁོར།་) made of copper, with repousse floral designs on front. Back inserted into front, held in place with hide strip threaded through two flattened loops on each side. Top shaped like rounded double arch. Glass insert in corresponding shape with ceramic image of deity inside. Pieces of coloured cloth or paper below image.
Srung khor (སྲུང་འཁོར།་) or an amulet box is worn or carried as a protection against harm, but it is not considered an ornament. It is often incorrectly called gau by many museums, but gau refers to ornaments/pendants without any religious connotations.
