Description
Flat, round mat with a central, circular birch bark panel. Birch bark panel was originally embroidered with a quill work pattern, from which most quills are now gone; rim of panel is ringed with pink quills. Encircling the central panel are alternating bands--three and two, respectively--of coiled and zigzagging open work sweet grass, all stitched with black thread.
