Description
Spade money coin with raised lip around edge. The top is a slightly flaring rectangle with a hole punched at its centre and a protruding scalloped shape with a rectangular hole attaches at the top. Below this top rectangular shape are two arms that form a larger, slightly flared overall rectangular shape. There are two Chinese characters in seal script on the face, divided by a line at the centre. There are two small holes punched through the metal where the two arms meet. The reverse is flat.
History Of Use
Design similar to a coin, but not for circulation; not from the period it purports to be from. (Larson, David) Probably used as an accessory on a piece of furniture, such as a handle. The incorporation of a Han coin reflects archaistic aesthetics. (Li, Min)
