Shawl Item Number: 2813/15 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

The shawl has been woven with an abstract design in black and yellow-white cotton yarn. There is a broad black band on either end of the shawl, and within these bands are vertical rows of stylized bird figures (twenty-six in each band). Both ends have been finished in a fringe of fine knotting, and there are outlines of images arranged horizontally within this knotting. These horizontal rows of images consist of: four leaf designs, three duck figures, and four leaf designs. One side of the shawl is noticeably faded, and there are traces of blue/indigo dye in some of the yellow-white woven areas.
