Description

Laminated children's drawing consisting of a piece of beige legal paper mounted on a piece of blue construction paper. There is a rectangular piece of white legal paper on the back carrying Spanish inscriptions "Nosotros andamos hoyando por que los soldados de el Salvador nos queriam. Matar a todos por eso hoy estamos refugiados en mesa Grande de San Marcos de Ocotepeque. Ma ma ma - pa pa pa - ma ma ma - pa". On the front, there is a wide, red undulating line with three smaller red shapes in the lower left corner. Above this red line are four winged creatures, a small blue bird, and a small red bird. The word "malgarito" has been written with brown and grey crayon in the upper left of the composition. To the right of the winged creatures and birds is a multicoloured house containing two small red birds. An object is protruding from the roof of the house, and this may represent smoke due to the curling ends of this object. There is a pink object with leaves or spikes at the far right of the page. A narrow strip of word-processed text has been taped to the front, at the bottom of the page, and it reads "We were running away from our home in El Salvador because the Salvadorean soldiers wanted to kill us. That is why we are refugees in Mesa Grande."
