Drawing Item Number: 2811/7 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Laminated children's drawing consisting of a piece of beige legal paper mounted on a piece of blue construction paper. The reverse contains an inscription on white paper which has also been mounted to the blue paper and laminated. This inscription reads "muy contentos trabajabamos en el salvador antes ahora se nos toca andar huyendo y estamos refugiados". The top of the image contains a multicoloured house with a plant or flower on top of it. A blue-purple path leads away from the house, to the right, and a human figure is on this path near the house. Below the house is a green and red helicopter. A human figure, a blue and green flower, and two animals have been drawn in the middle of the composition. The bottom contains six green and blue plants. The words "Inocetem Lia" have been written in the upper right, and a narrow strip of word-processed text that has been taped to the front, at the bottom of the page, reads "We used to work in El Salvador before. Now we have to go running away and we are refugees."
