Drawing Item Number: 2811/101 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Children's drawing on legal size off-white paper. An ink inscription in the upper left-hand corner reads "Juan Antonio gallegos - posada del rio lempa". The words "y rio sampal" have been crossed out. An orange diagonal line crosses the page from the inscription in the upper left corner to the right side of the page. There are four human figures connected to this orange line. Their arms are raised above their heads and it appears as though they are using it to cross a river below, represented by a diagonal band drawn in pencil that crosses the page from the upper right corner to the lower left. Below the river is a small green house filled with nineteen human figures. A short green path leads from the house to the edge of the river. A large soldier figure in green, along with two helicopters drawn in pencil, are shooting at these small human figures. Another path drawn in pencil leads down from the house towards the bottom of the page. The back of the page contains another inscription that reads "tiraban bombas y granadas y muerteros la gente enlos Oyos y en los Sanjones unos caminando para los en mandes unos perdidos en los Sanjones".
