Description

Bronze mask, the face has an emphasized brow with a cross hatching pattern representing eyebrows. There are holes for eyes, with the eye area slightly raised. Nose and ears protrude. There is a hole for the mouth, which is open and has eight well defined teeth. On the top of the head, twisted and curved metal pieces are attached as hair. The neck is a thin piece of angled metal, patterned with dense vertical lines. Two ‘x’ marks are present on the cheek under the right eye. The back of the mask is hollow.

Narrative

Probably Baule, but somewhjat atypical; it also has characteristics of the Ekoi from Nigeria.
