Description

Gourd container with geometric design created with copper wire inserted into the surface. The design consists of two solid bands at the top and bottom of the container, and four columns of three triangle shapes around the centre.

History Of Use

Zulu style snuff container. According to ‘The Art of the Personal Object’ (National Museum of African Art): "The decoration of these containers is achieved by drilling small holes into which short lengths of wire are inserted to form triangle, diamond or circle motifs."
