Bowl Item Number: 2875/23 a-i from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Large bowl with straight sides and slightly raised foot. Exterior is dark brown and has an uneven, bumpy surface. Interior demonstrates eight different glazes, arranged in triangular sections with points meeting at centre. Bottom of base has writing identifying all the interior test glazes. Base is signed by artist with makers mark(?) Parts b-i are eight small rectangular slabs of clay testing various glazes. All have small holes punctured at top; (b-d) have leaf designs, (i) has a star and (g) has a clover design.

Collection of pottery originally belonging to Olea Davis, and later given to the Potters Guild by her son.
