Specific Techniques

Main body of vest woven with stripes of continuous supplementary weft patterning against a warp-faced weave alternating with stripes of warp-faced weave. Difficult to tell if supplementary weft patterning is songket (supplementary weft patterning technique) or sungkit (supplementary weft patterning technique with aid of a needle). Striped side borders and front facing panel plain warp-faced weave. Back lower panel of vest woven in bands of tapestry weave (slit tapestry) with alternating bands of twining. Front panel of vest cut and hand-stitched with cotton interfacing fabric for front opening and neckline. Sides of vest crudely hand-stitched under armhole openings to close. Bast fibre ties at front opening have been twisted and knotted through woven border to secure.
