Description

Mask representing a deer with antlers on the crown of the head. Face has protruding globular eyes, and a narrow snout. The mask is painted brown with black eyebrows and green around the eyes, a black nose with crescent-shaped nostrils, and black lips, all bordered with a white line.

History Of Use

Deer mask; said to have been made for a dance called Takwakatl, in which two men formed the body of the deer.

Narrative

Sold to MOA by Cranmer, however a letter in the file said he was selling it for someone else, so the original owner is unknown.
