Description
Drum baton or beater. Brown wood cylindrical baton that tapers downward to an outward flaring handle end. Carved with an expansive design. Has tapering oval eyes in an ovoid. In between the eyes, there is a u form and a split u with an elongated u form above that has a pair of u forms, a u form, a circle, and a split u within. Below, there is a downward pointing triangle. At either side, there is an ovoid at the top with a split u, an ovoid and another split u at the tip. These are in turn surrounded by a v-shape that has a pair of ovoids at the central bottom. The back has a vertical row of three split u's.
History Of Use
Used by singers to beat time on a log, during ceremonial dances.
