Cylindrical mask made of a bamboo and wood frame. Decorated with leopard skin and red and black checkerboard designs. Four elongated flaps attached to the bottom edge.

History Of Use

Goboi is a masked spirit dancer who appears on ceremonial occasions. The mask is worn only by senior members of the Poro secret society, which is dedicated to youth initiation ceremonies. Goboi represents an elephant spirit.
