Description

Long knife, or sword (part a) and scabbard (part b). Scroll design is on the carved curved handle (part a) which is decorated with black hair and is wound with dark braided fibre. The long, flat metal blade (part a) is straight along the top with a curved edge along the bottom and comes to a pointed tip at the upper end. The scabbard (part b) has a lizard in relief and is decorated with black hair.

Narrative

Collected by Colonel A.C. Fisher, the great-grandfather of the donors, while he was in China from 1856 to 1859.
