Robe Item Number: 588/4 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Floor-length red silk robe with embroidery. The robe opens on the right front, fastened together by two frog fasteners (ornamental braiding) at the neck and two more midway on the side. The neck is rounded, surrounded by two borders; a black border with blue flowers and a linear green, blue and purple border. The borders angle down the right side opening of the robe and continue along the bottom edge. The end of each sleeve has three borders; cream with a floral pattern, black with blue flowers and multicoloured linear. The pattern on the body of the robe is bunches of green and yellow flowers with leaves and roots on a red background. Amidst the flowers are multicoloured butterflies. The pattern and borders continue on the back side. The inside lining is green silk.
