Power Board Item Number: A6470 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Wooden figure made out of an old box consisting of a duntsik or power board used in winter dances. The design is cutout with Northwest Coast stylized forms and outlined in black paint. The image represented is a sisiutl with its curled horns protruding from the top; a human figure in the middle and a bird ? at the bottom. The board used to be in one piece but was cut and is currently in five bound together with sections of post and hole along with metal wiring.

Spirit board. Represents double-headed serpent, Sisyulh, the treasure, dLugwala, of a Tuxwit dancer.
