Rounded, pouch-like bag made from a bird's feet; claws still attached.

History Of Use

Eskimo woman's bag used for carrying arctic cotton and moss.

Specific Techniques

The bones are removed from the bird feet by gripping the bone ends in the teeth and pulling hard; the foot is then inflated to separate the two sides, and dried.

Collected by Glyndwr Abraham while working as an R.C.M.P. officer between July 1929 and July 1959.
