Arrow Item Number: K4.296 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Arrow with metal head that has slightly rounded sides and a pointed end with a short shaft that is bound to the long metal shaft with stem(?). Feathers have been bound to the shaft near the end with stem(?) whipping and the notched tip of the shaft also has stem(?) whipping wound around it.

History Of Use

Used for weapon in warfare and hunting, although guns were increasingly used in warfare.

Specific Techniques

Whipping around end of feather attaches feathers to shaft as well as prevents the archer from cutting themselves on the feathers; whipping underneath self-nock prevents shaft from splitting past stem(?) if arrow is shot incorrectly.
