Description

Small seal-like head carved from yellow-white tusk with a red mouth, round nostrils, and black and white eyes. Eyes, nose, and mouth are inlaid with coloured stone and nails. Neck area has a hole bored through the centre and a small tab-like protrusion.

History Of Use

Used with a rope to keep a baby secure in the hood of the parka.

Narrative

Collected by Glyndwr Abraham while working as an R.C.M.P. officer between July 1929 and July 1959.
