Description

Straight, hollow segment of white bone--flat bottom with rounded sides. Bone is encircled with horizontal carved lines, creating a striped appearance; rows of carved dots appear between some lines. Bright orange lichen covers much of the bottom and inside of the object.

History Of Use

Needle case. Used by the Eskimo woman to carry her sewing needles.

Collected by Glyndwr Abraham while working as an R.C.M.P. officer between July 1929 and July 1959.
