Totem Pole Figure Item Number: 2907/1 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Rough unpainted carving of the upper part of a long necked bird, once attached to the front of a totem pole.

History Of Use

Archival image of a pole standing in the village of Kitsegukla shows the bird on the front of a pole, second section from the base. There were also two smaller birds on the pole below this one. The birds may be grouse or a similar type of bird? This fragment is just the upper section of the bird--the head and neck area.
