Jug Item Number: 2862/25 from the MOA: University of British Columbia

Description

Jug used for pouring chicha. The vessel has a bulbous body that rests atop a slight, round foot. The shoulder is encircled by a protruding, tightly wavy line. Out of the neck emerges a human-like figure with protruding legs and protruding arms, the left of which holds a mug, while the right holds a rectangular block. The figure wears a pronounced scarf, with fringes carved into the ends. The face has a small protruding nose and incised mouth and eyes. Large flaps hang down over the ear area. A green glaze is found intermittently on the scarf, face , legs and hands of the figure. The top of the head is hollow and serves as the lip of the jug. A handle is connected to the jug at shoulder and figure’s middle back.
