Description

Painting shows the crowning of the Madonna by the Holy Trinity. Mary kneels, wearing an orange dress and green robe both decorated with gold designs. She has long free flowing brown hair, and a halo of gold lines surrounds her head. Her hands are crossed on her chest, and her left foot rests on the winged head of an angel. Jesus to the left and God to the right hold a large jewelled crown above the Madonna’s head. Jesus wears a green tunic and red robe, decorated with gold, and holds a cross in his left hand. God wears a brown tunic and red robe, also decorated with gold designs, and holds a short staff. A triangular halo surrounds his head, representing the Trinity. Between the two and above the crown is a dove surrounded by gold, representing the Holy Spirit. The background of the painting show clouds painted in subdued colours of green, brown and gold.
