Description

Painting shows the Madonna and Child. Mary stands atop a three tiered pedestal, wearing a white dress with lace cuffs, and covered by a long cloak decorated with flowers, foliage and vases, that flares widely at the bottom. She wears a voluminous head scarf, white and with flowers and foliage, showing only her face. Atop her head is a wide brimmed hat decorated with a red ribbon. In her right hand, Mary holds a candlestick with a lit candle. In her left is the Baby Jesus, wrapped in a voluminous patchwork cloak with a lace collar. A halo surrounds his head. To either side of the figures are two tied back red curtains. On the back of the painting, embedded in the fabric, are the words “HARINA ESPECIAL DE TRIGO”.
