Description

Linea Vieja style terracotta tripod vessel. The small central pot has a flaring rim on a straight short neck, a pronounced shoulder and an elongated, rounded body with a curved bottom. The pot is suspended between three long, thick, hollow legs, conical in shape with curved bottom tips. Inside the legs are two or three small clay balls that rattle when the vessel is moved. At the shoulder of each leg sits a vulture, wings drawn in, necks curved so heads droop. Below the heads are small animal faces with indented eyes and open mouths. The vultures have long legs with prominent knees and incised toes.
